Trove Series Begins

Introducing Trove Series | Tools as Canvas
I’ve always believed that a watch should be more than a timekeeper. It’s a tool, yes! but it’s also a story, a memory, a trace of the life that wears it. When I first sketched the Versa XC, the idea wasn’t just to build another watch. It was to create a platform. Something flat, modular, and purposeful - a tool that could eventually become a canvas.
That vision has lived in the back of my mind since day one. And today, it takes its next step forward.
The Trove Series is the next chapter in the Artefkt journey; a dedicated space for expression, collaboration, and one-of-one creations.
At its core, Trove is about evolution. It’s where the Versa XC fulfills its original purpose: a precision tool designed with flat, knife-scale–inspired construction so it could invite artists, engravers, and makers to leave their mark. From the start, we knew the Versa XC wasn’t just a watch. It was a platform waiting to be transformed.
Through Trove, we’ll invite artists across disciplines; engraving, tattooing, metalwork, and more to collaborate. Each release will be a one-of-one creation, auctioned online, designed not only to celebrate individuality but also to support the artists and craftspeople who bring these visions to life.
Trove is more than collecting. It’s a commitment to craft, community, and culture. An exploration of what happens when technical tools become canvases, when modern watchmaking converges with traditional trades, and when art lives on the wrist as both timekeeper and story.
Trove Edition: Memento Mori - SEA
We’re beginning Trove with a collaboration that sets the tone.
Robert Atkinson - a renowned tattoo artist and engraver based in Los Angeles, has spent over three decades building a reputation for bold, intricate Japanese-inspired work. After years of tattooing across Los Angeles, Denmark, and Holland, Robert co-founded 10,000 Waves Tattoo Galleryin 2014. His style blends Western and Oriental traditions, creating designs that flow so naturally with the body they feel born into it.
Robert brings that same artistry to the first Trove release: Memento Mori - Sea
Hand-engraved in solid bronze across the dial and edge-to-edge top ring, built on our VXC Trove Edition Titanium case, this piece embodies the legendary memento mori theme: live and die by what you love.
We often get asked, why flat? This Trove release answers that question: flat opens the door to engraving. The Versa XC’s modular, knife-scale–inspired construction was built with this in mind, to provide the surface that allows the watch to evolve into a true canvas.
Looking Ahead
The Trove Series is about fulfilling that promise - a convergence of precision and craft, and an evolution of traditional trades. It’s where watchmaking meets engraving, metalwork, tattoo artistry, and finishing.
What happens when technical tools become canvases? When a precision-engineered timepiece transforms into a carrier of culture, heritage, and art?
That’s the question Trove exists to answer.
Each release will be a one-of-one, launched through online auctions at ArtefkWatches, building a community defined by distinction, creativity, and action for the future - a future created in partnership with the artists and makers who leave their trace.
This is Trove.
